Fulfillment center shelf life ATTRIBUTE
Hello, I'm puzzled about the 'Fulfillment center shelf life (days)' attribute when creating an offer for a product for which the expiration type is set as 'Expiration date required.'
When we mark products with 'Expiration date required,' it means that the products have expiration dates on their packaging. As a result, Amazon asks us to input the specific expiration dates when creating shipping plans.
The confusion arises when we consider that these "expiration-date lengths" can vary from one shipment to another. Sometimes we send products that will expire in 12 months, while on other occasions, it might be 10 or 16 months - depending on the inventory I have in my warehouse. Meanwhile, the manufacturer's specified shelf life for the product remains at 24 months.
So, the question is, what's the purpose of the 'Fulfillment center shelf life' attribute? Should we always set it to the manufacturer's shelf life when creating an offer, even though we provide different expiration dates for each shipment?
If so, I'm not entirely clear on whether this attribute has a direct connection with the expiration dates we specify in each shipping plan. It seems it might serve more of a general warehousing function (?)
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.
Kind Regards

Greetings @Seller_xLs4owMnhY7cZ,
Thank you for your questions. The Shelf Life Attribute generally represents the amount of time that a product can remain on the shelf before it loses effectivness. You can see this defined on the Expiration-dated product attributes help page:
Fulfillment center shelf life
This attribute tells us how many days your product can be kept on a shelf in a fulfillment center without losing effectiveness. If you answer Yes for Is product expirable, then you must enter a value for Fulfillment center shelf life.
Enter any value between zero and 1,825 days. If the shelf life of your product is not given in days, convert the value and enter the shelf life in days.
If you don’t know the shelf life of your product, go to Expiration dates on FBA products and follow the guidelines.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions. Have a great day.
