How to fix a that amazon thinks I have a distributer when I don't
I have just started listing my books on Amazon as a sellar. I have many books in my basement and I am purging all, that I have collected for 35 years. When I listed my book which is sold on Amazon by many it will not let me sell due to not having an invoice from my distributor. I don't have a distributor I only have books that I have collected for 35 years. So what do I do to fix this problem. It doesnt ask me if I bought the books and I even included that I didnt have a distributor. Im not affilated with anyone I just want to sell my books alot of this are by the same author and are in a series but I read 22 of them in one summer so in 2006.

You shouldn't need a distributor to ungate for used condition. Are you trying to sell your old books as new?

Selling Books on Amazon is different than selling almost EVERY other type of product on Amazon.
This MAY be due to the fact that Amazon BEGAN as a "Book Seller".
For almost EVERY other product, you need a Wholesale Invoice from a recognized Distributor with the Distributor info AND your Company info.
For Books, you SHOULD be able to list anything, as long as you list them as "Used" (and considering that you are clearing-out your old collection, they ARE "Used", whether you ever read them or not).
Hope this clears it up for you.

You have just entered a Catch-22.
In the last 18+ months, AMAZON and the publishers sold on this platform have tightened the approval process. Mostly, sellers need a background of confirmed/delivered orders plus positive FB/ODR to get approved. Forced to watch a video on counterfeit goods; then answer questions. We've watch the same video at least 50 times in the last 6 months-or accepted on our record.
If you're new w/ no listings, you probably won't get approved; the reason you're getting the distributor alert. But you'll need approval to sell big names like Doubleday/Penguin Random House/HarperCollins/Hachette etc.
If you have titles that aren't from the Big 5, I would suggest you attempt to list those. Be aware, some tiny publishers, w/ negligible back lists have also gotten into the act, attempting to force sellers to buy their new titles in order to list other categories. All-in-all, a lengthy and painful process. Have you thought about E-Bay for your collection?
Good Luck!!

Group your books by author or subject and list on ebay. Groups of fiction, cookbooks, military sell OK. Collections of poetry, biographies of movie stars, English queens etc. Also books in foreign languages as in Lot of 6 German language fiction by same author. You won't have to mail to Europe yourself. On Amazon, do not list any books as new, even if they are still shrink wrapped and perfect and you bought them from the author.

Hi @Seller_edpNXCl1zsE3j, it looks like you've gotten some good feedback and advice from experienced sellers in this thread, but if you have any cases open with seller support on the issue I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can expand on any of the details specific to your situation.
Best of luck!

I agree with the others, in fact, I read somewhere a few years ago that Amazon was no longer accepting new sellers into the Media category at all (music, books, videos).
