UPS handling FBM like FBA for returns.

It is unbelievable. On phone currently with UPS about a misdirected package. The operator/rep does not use English as first language. No problem. The problem lies in the fact that my customer generated a return label, per Amazon policy I have my labels auto generated. Package is dropped off and given to UPS. They send it to local center. Now it is in Lexington , KY and marked as returned to seller. I live in IL . The package came from Chicago to my town about 30 miles away. UPS rep states it was returned to Amazon. I am not Amazon ( yes I know I am a 3P so yes I am part of Amazon) nor do I live in KY. Rep says customer has to initiate a claim for lost package. I am the customer. With Amazon set up there is no way to contact my customer and that customer is not due the package. What a cluster.

I have proof of how system is supposed to work since I have had customers make returns with UPS before.

I'm wondering if there is a miscommunication happening. Are you sure UPS isn't saying that the buyer tried to return it through one of the Amazon drop-off centers? Kind of reads like that might be what UPS rep meant. It's also not uncommon for packages to get rerouted to weird places. I've had packages that should have gone from one part of California to another go through Arizona or Nevada for some reason. It happens. This is definitely a mess but it sounds like more of a UPS problem than an Amazon issue.

Hello @Seller_i4DsYZVUgBKOw There are a few options available for the situation you describe where a return shipment was routed to Amazon.

First: can you share a Case ID so I can review the details and determine if there are any active cases?

One option is to file a SAFE-T Claim if this was a return that was refunded by Amazon on first scan.

Another option is to try to contact UPS again: have you attempted to call the UPS dedicated line for Amazon sellers: 1-800-711-5914. The UPS personnel at the above phone number are trained to support claims requested by Amazon sellers.
