Defective - Vendor Return

We recently experienced something called "Defective - Vendor Return". We expected that this will be returned back to us. But upon checking, the item was not returned back to us and there's not associated removal order id.
We've been trying to ask Amazon customer service but there answers on this is so vague. Does anyone else had the same experience?

Settings - fulfillment by amazon - Automated unfulfillable settings - Return or Dispose
Change it to Return if it isn't already

@Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EI is correct, this will be based on your unfulfillable settings. Did you create a case ID with this issue? If so can you please provide me with that ID?
