Signature Confirmation Recommended???
So is this amazon's febel attempt to inform me that a previous thief is ordereding from me? Signature Confirmation Recommended??? Instead of making me pay $4 more for confirmation on the package, why not just boot the buyer that has obviously been an issue before and steals from sellers? Legal shoplifting by using Amazon's own policies needs to stop. Amazon encourages theft on here and they know it's going on. The only difference between an online crook and someone who steals out of a Walmart store is, Amazon helps them commit the theft, and even walks em to the door with my product and holds it open for em. BOOT PROBLEM buyers WHO STEAL, and quit helping them steal $4000 a year from me with bogus excuses and returns that should have never been allowed! Each week I see something new selling on here that makes my job twice as hard, or makes me lose even more money selling on here. The allowing buyers to flat out commit theft has to stop. The bots wrongly peg my listings religiously, why not have em find problem buyers and boot them instead? I have had numerous buyers say something didn't arrive, even though it shows delivered to address provided to Amazon, and Amazon gives them a refund and doesn't count it against me. That only teaches buyers to lie and steal! The new Signature Confirmation status is a horrible attempt to keep problem buyers. Get rid of em, it's just not right to us sellers.

The signature recommendation is not necessarily related to thieving buyer.
Why not just use signature?

Signature Confirmation does not mean that Amazon will follow its written policy and protect you.
Several years ago we sent a package Express Mail Signature Required. 30-minutes after it was delivered (and the scammer signed for it) they opened an INR claim. We responded with the copy of the scammer's signature as provided by the Post Office. Claim DENIED. We appealed - appeal DENIED.
From that day forward we removed all upgraded shipping services (and tell buyer inquiries expedited shipping is NOT available on Amazon for our products). We also removed all items with a price higher then $39.95.
Very few problems since then (but they still arise - especially now that we are in "scammer's season of delight".

Wow!
There are SO MANY misconceptions and assumptions in your post that I HAD to reply.
No, this is Amazon's attempt to limit THEIR potential liability for covering an INR A-Z Claim SHOULD you choose to ship utilizing Amazon Seller Protections.
There is nothing "Obvious" about any of this. You are ASSUMING this to be the case, but it may NOT be what you are assuming. You do not KNOW exactly why Amazon "Recommended" this, you are ASSUMING, and your assumption is making you angry. But it is NOT Amazon doing this to you, you are doing it to yourself.
This has NO basis in actual FACT, and in fact, is contradicted by your very own post! Amazon's "Recommendation" that you ship that order using "Signature Confirmation" for Delivery is ACTUAL PROOF that Amazon does NOT "Encourage theft", as the use of Sig Con PREVENTS theft.
How do you KNOW that Amazon doesn't in fact "Boot" "Problem Customers"? I am fairly certain that they do, but regardless, Amazon provides Seller Protections, and the Seller cannot "Vet" the Amazon Buyer, so IF you choose to Sell here you cannot be concerned about possible "Problem Buyers".
This is your biggest example of how assumptions can be SO incorrect. You ASSUME that the Buyer is LYING when they claim INR simply because the Tracking displays as "Delivered".
HOWEVER...
You are failing to consider packages being stolen by "Porch-Pirates", which occur AFTER the package is Delivered but BEFORE it has been received by the Buyer.
You can spend days on YouTube viewing videos of package thefts by these Pirates, the phenomena has been continuing for years, and is ONLY getting WORSE every year.
Already local Police are appearing on news and radio advising online Buyers on how to avoid having their packages stolen by Porch-Pirates during this Holiday Season.
Surely you must realize that in these cases packages display as "Delivered" when Tracked, but clearly were NOT received by the Buyer.
Which means that the Buyer actually did NOT receive their package even though the "Tracking shows as Delivered". Do you understand this?
This is the ESSENCE of the Amazon Seller Protection Policy. A Policy you seem to be unaware of (despite the copious advertising on the order Sales page), or know of it, chooses to NOT participate.
For the record, Amazon protects Sellers from exactly what you are describing with the following policy:
1) PURCHASE POSTAGE FOR THE ORDER USING AMAZON BUY SHIPPING.
2) SHIP ON-TIME AS SCHEDULED BY AMAZON*.
* Do not purchase the postage prior to processing the order, and Make SURE the package is scanned into the carrier's possession before the close of the "Ship-By" window established by Amazon.
IF you follow these simple procedures Amazon WILL protect you from All A-Z Claims arising from ANY "Problem with Delivery" of the package.
Or, you can save a few bucks buying Postage elsewhere and potentially LOSE every A-Z Claim arising from a problem with Delivery.
Knowing this this is your choice, if you then CHOOSE to forgo these protections than you have NO CAUSE to come here and complain when you lose an A-Z Claim for INR.
We are now in the Holiday Season, with not only MORE Amazon Delivery vehicles out every day (for Pirates to follow), but also official delivery carriers that hire 3rd Party delivery carriers to help with the HUGE amount of packages moving through the system, which then OFTEN results in Delivery Delays.
The Amazon Seller Protection policy removes all liability from the Seller in these matters.
First of all, Amazon is only RECOMMENDING you to do this, they are not "Ordering" you to do it. It is your choice.
As for me, when I began selling on Amazon many years ago (and telephone Seller Support was a thing), I called and inquired about exactly when Amazon expects us 3rd Party Sellers to use Signature Confirmation on Amazon orders. I was informed (by multiple U.S.A. based Amazon Seller Service Reps) that any package valued at $100.00 or more should use Sig Con.
There are some Sellers who will disagree with this threshold, but I have ALWAYS used this as the benchmark, and have never had cause to regret it. I recommend you do the same. It is CHEAP insurance.
Any Buyer that might want to complain about Sig Con just needs to be informed that it is for their benefit, to make SURE that they receive their order and it does not get stolen from them. Honest Buyers will understand.
I hope I have helped you understand how your assumptions and misconceptions are not correct, and are only making you angry.
I urge you to avail yourself of the provided Amazon protections. You will sleep better knowing that those "Thieving Amazon Buyers" can't steal from you anymore... At least not in this way.
And remember what they say about Assuming...

When you sell on amazon you have to understand that you will get ripped off. The more expensive the item the higher the risk.
If you ask for signature confirmation, then you already have accepted the risk.
Amazon will delight the customer over the seller.
Seller_8bKTbjGobJoAL
I've had this pop up a number of times. I think that when a buyer keeps filing INR claims, Amazon flags them and recommends signature confirmation. I always get it when the recommendation shows up. A couple of bucks is pretty cheap insurance
Seller_GTa8DdVSZnscZ
Is this simply a purchase amount threshold, as in a $1000 item so its in your best interest to get signature confirmation?
Seller_CyGI7lF1437gx
Has nothing to do with the buyer, but could be due to the area being delivered to. If it is an apt complex, where porch piracy is an issue, you will want to signature of record.
Seller_PNwUQLkqFLu1F
We get such orders with "Signature confirmation recommended" every week.
When first order like this came, we also thought exactly like you did - A thief is coming back again on Amazon and now Amazon advises us at least order Signature Service".
Yes, we have been selling in many places for at least 18 years now. And by far, this is THE LEAST TRUSTED marketplace on earth. Even Chinese marketplaces protect their sellers. And when they leave some gap for frauds to step in, lets say, marketplaces learn from their mistakes fast..
But Amazon is doing EVERYTHING they can to promote fraud. And it's very hard to do business here honestly. But everyone knows that but nothing is changing.

90 percent of the buyers are scammers(Signature Confirmation Recommended), signatures don't work, they will find any reason to refund, you lose money, I lost $800 today, signatures don't work
