custom made orders - extended shipping and handling time
hello all,
we make custom made ceramic sinks, first we get order then prepare it... total production time is 8 weeks then we send to customer by fed-ex. So appx. shipping and handling time is 9 weeks.
does anyone have any experience like that? do you guys suggest it if amazon is the right place to sell or not?
if yes, what path should I follow step by step.

As you probably suspect -- Amazon is definitely not the right place. Buyers frequently pay no attention to delivery time. They simply expect that anything they order on Amazon will be there in a few days.
And while many handmade or custom sellers have longer handling times than the standard two-day, and mostly don't have too much trouble -- they aren't using handling times that extend to that length.
I foresee nothing but trouble. Not to mention Amazon's generous return. How many custom-made sinks do you want returned?

I have not seen many sellers utilize an 8-9 week handling time for orders in the past. In fact, I did a quick search of the forums to see if there were other discussions on this in the past and I was unable to find much.
You will want to enroll in Amazon Custom, as the product your describing will be custom to each buyer. If you're interested, you can find the steps to enroll in the Amazon Custom program on this help page in Seller Central.

You will also need to adjust your handling time to be longer (i.e. beyond the 30-day period). Let me try to find if there an accessible self-service path for this and revert back.
