Off Amazon Placement

I recently explored the Advertising Console and noticed a change in the Placement Report. Previously, there were three placement types, but Amazon has introduced a new one: Off Amazon Placement.

I’m curious to learn more about this. How does it work, and how can we manage it effectively, especially in Automatic, Exact, Phrase, and Broad Match campaigns? It is intriguing to observe that all campaigns, regardless of match type, are receiving off-Amazon traffic. This can be somewhat alarming because, on Amazon, you typically want to maintain control over your ad management, especially when targeting top-of-funnel customers through off-Amazon placements.

These are options for Brand Owners or Brand Authrorized Representitives to target off Amazon customers on Amazon Publisher Direct Streaming TV publishers and Third Party Publishers. We have had very good results (20-50 ROAS) with Sponsored Display but our products are not a good fit for TV customers as we are mainly B2B.

However, my concern lies with the Sponsored Product placement report.

Why did the off-Amazon placement receive clicks in keyword campaigns, including auto, exact, phrase, and broad targeting campaigns?

The Exact, Phrase and Broad match campaigns are primarity Automatic and Manual Keyword campaigns. There are many more targeting options such as category, remarketing, ASIN, Negative Keywords, Theme, in market, contextual, or lifestyle.

You can chose to drive page visits with CPC or impressions with VCPM for top of search results or conversions with CPC.

All of these are controlled by the seller so there is full control as it is a "self service" campagin manager

I would recommend opening a case in Amazon Ad Support inquiring how your automatic ad campaign is targeting off Amazon. According to policy automatic campaign ad placement will be in search results and product pages, both of which are on site.
