Learn how to use multi-channel distribution capabilities in AWD

What is AWD?

Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD) offers a low-cost bulk storage solution from Amazon. You can send your inventory to Amazon distribution centers and store it there for as long as you need, with no capacity limits or costs for aged inventory.

How does multi-channel distribution work within AWD?

For sellers participating in AWD, multi-channel distribution (MCD) is a new capability that allows you to ship your products in bulk to your own warehouse or third-party warehouses, wholesalers, and distributors. Using the tools available on Seller Central, you can simplify your processing for inbounding inventory destined for multiple channels by sending them to AWD, which can then replenish that inventory to multiple sales and distribution channels, including Amazon and beyond.

How can I get started with multi-channel distribution?

STEP 1: Ensure you are enrolled in Amazon Warehousing and Distribution. To learn how to enroll, visit AWD home page on Seller Central.

STEP 2: Send your channel and destination details and weekly forecast details to us.

▪ If you have an Account Manager or Customer Success Manager, ask them to share a template file that you can complete and send to them. If you don’t have an Account Manager or Customer Success Manager, please reach out to awd-multi-channel-distribution@amazon.com and we’ll get back to you in two business days.

STEP 3: Wait to get an email confirmation of enrollment from us.

STEP 4: After you’re enrolled, follow these steps to place a multi-channel distribution order:

▪ Select SKUs to move to a specific destination on Amazon Warehousing and Distribution Program Page

▪ Select Move Inventory button

▪ Select Off Amazon distribution as Distribution Type and select the destination where you want the inventory to be delivered.

▪ Enter the quantity for the SKUs you wish to move as part of the order.

▪ Click on Review move request.

▪ Click on Submit request

STEP 5: Track your multi-channel distribution orders.

▪ Go to Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) and select Track Shipments.

To learn more, please reach out to awd-multi-channel-distribution@amazon.com and we’ll get back to you in two business days.
