A to Z Claim
I sold an item to a customer in. Got a message from Amazon 3 weeks ago that they wanted to return the item. No big deal. Before i could do anything I received another message that said the buyer had cancelled their return request. Today I got an A to Z claim from the same buyer and a message from them saying they wanted to return the item. It was a inexpensive item, so I messaged them back and explained we were processing them a refund. Shipping back to me made it not worth getting the item back. My personal choice this time. Well got an email just now that the A to Z had been closed and I had a order defect on my account. Go to the page and see my account is at the risk of deactivation. This is my only A to Z claim ever and I am assuming that the warning of deactivation, in this case, is a reminder to do better or the account will be deactivated. I also assume that after a certain time period the defect will go away and the deactivation warning will go away to. Just wanted to reach out to other sellers and see if my thought process was right.

If you refund while an A-Z is open, you will always be at fault. Let it close and then appeal.

Hello @Seller_BTwe3TJpuapgf
Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums.
I came across your thread and wanted to inquire whether you received resolution on this concern or if you still need additional support. To echo what @Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EI said, when you receive an A-Z Claim, you can choose to refund the buyer by clicking Refund customer as the investigation is under progress and the claim will be closed. This will impact your order defect rate. This help page provides additional information regarding Amazon's A-Z Claims for your reference.
Please feel free to respond to this thread with the related order ID if you need additional assistance and I can take a look.
Regards,
