Pending orders without payment
I have seen many people complain about orders that are pending without payment for months. This is not normal. How many merchants take an item off the shelf and hold it for weeks in the hopes that the customer will come back and pay. This ties up our inventory. It would be an easy fix but why does Amazon allow customers to abuse third-party sellers in this way. If you're payment doesn't work, the order should never go through. Come back when you can pay for it.
I didn't think Amazon was a layaway company. How can we plan inventory? This makes no sense. Amazon please help and enact a pay now policy.

Dominic from Amazon here, this process is laid out in our help page, Pending Orders.
On the Manage orders page, an order with a status of Pending might indicate an issue with the buyer's payment method or a convenience store payment method. In some cases, our payment and order detail verification processes can potentially extend order processing times for as long as 21 days.
If you have an order older than 21 days pending please create a case with Seller Support.
