"Good job" on the new FBA inventory reimbursement policy!

If you aren't aware, Amazon changed their inventory reimbursement policy. We were recently reimbursed an item we shipped to warehouse three months ago for less than half of our inventory cost, not to mention it doesn't cover the placement fees, storage fees, shipping cost etc we paid to send the inventory to Amazon.

So after reaching out to support, they shared a page that has a link to "Manage Your Sourcing Cost" page. We submitted the actual cost for the item. Only to be immediately denied as an outliner. Well, that's how much we paid the manufacturers during Christmas time when the product is almost out of stock and shipping and handling cost was surged. There is no option to provide documents to substantiate our submission. We are just put in a blackhole.

This is RIDICULOUS! This is on top of already ridiculous damaged-by-customer-no-reimbursement policy. FBA is now becoming so unreliable and hard to manage.

The Manage Your Sourcing Cost page allows you to view and manage the sourcing cost of your FBA inventory items or FNSKUs. To provide your own sourcing costs:

  1. From the inventory drop-down menu in Seller Central, select “Inventory Defect and Reimbursement.”
  2. From the Inventory Defect and Reimbursement portal, click "Manage Your Sourcing Cost" in the top right corner to access the cost management interface.
  3. Locate the specific inventory FNSKU/ASIN listing, select the "Update" button in the Action column to open the side panel on the right side of the screen.
  4. In the side panel, enter your value in the ‘sourcing cost’ field.
  5. When ready, click "Save changes" at the bottom of the panel.
  6. In the status column, you can view the status of your submission. If any action is needed from you, it will be also be listed.

I quit FBA years ago..... Frankly It's almost impossible to make a profit on Amazon, (For you, that is, NOT them) , when selling FBM.... If you try to sell FBA with all of the extra fees, you WILL lose money. I don't know how Amazon thinks that screwing the living !@### out of their sellers is a viable long-term business plan. But Jeff Bezos said it himself: "someday, Amazon will fail!"

Over the past two years, Amazon has been relentlessly pushing the costs caused by flaws in its system onto sellers, causing our monthly profits to shrink to the point where it's hard to cover even basic expenses. The dragon slayer has finally become the very dragon he once vowed to destroy.
