Generic product entry for FNSKU - but UPC fails.
All I am trying to do is create a generic product entry so I can get my FNSKU to send to the manufacturer for printing on the packaging. Is there a way to get this done without all the related stuff?
Just creating the entry fails with the (ever loved) 8572 error. I've gone through all the flaming hoops that amazon wants me to - to my knowledge. I've got the GS1 UPC barcodes. I created the product as a 'generic' as I am still waiting for my brand approval. All I can do i create a trouble ticket to prove ONCE AGAIN that I own the UPC Prefix, and the actual GTIN is set to "in use" - because proving it once wasn't enough i guess.

It seems amazon is actively TRYING to introduce Catch-22s into their system.

DELETE this listing! You will NOT be allowed to change this listing later on and make it a branded listing! So you will sell under Generic, get ratings and reviews and THEN you have to create a new listing with your brand loosing all ratings and reviews. Not necessary!
You can NOW create a listing straight away with your brand, don't need trademark nor Brand Registry. BUT you have to take a NEW UPC from GS1, not the one you used for creating your actual listing.
Also I would recommend NOT printing the FNSKU on the packaging. You never know if the system accepts your new listing or if you have to create a new one which will generate a new FNSKU.

The information provided by @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iACis correct. If you plan on listing a product with your Brand Name, you should list it with that Brand Name. Products can't be changed from generic to brand name later and you should list them as generic if they truly have no branding. You can review these expectations on the Amazon Generic Product policy and the Product detail page rules. Thank you for your understanding.
