Brand Approval Declined 5461
Hi,
I am a new amazon seller and want to list new product that is not sold to amazon under my brand name. When creating a listing I got Error code: 5461 and filed Seller Approval Application with product images, brand name affixed to packaging, UPC and Brand Authorization letter.
I also added my brand name pending trademark status to show the proof of brand ownership but still Amazon rejected my brand approval application stating "After further investigation we were unable to find conclusive search results on the product with Brand name “XXXXXX” having Product title "XXXXXX"".
I am a small seller and first want to get brand approval before going with brand registry route. Can anyone or amazon team helps here on how can i resolve this issue? My case ID: 13738173001

If it's your brand on the USPTO then you NEED to go through brand registry first.

As someone else said....make sure you purchase your UPC's from GS1. That might be the problem.

Are you doing the trademark application yourself, or through a lawyer? Sometimes the DIY applications are granted a different status (such as supplemental registry) which will not fly for Amazon Brand Registry.
There has also been an issue with applications through certain law firms, including "bad faith" trademark registrations, many originating overseas. This has caused real problems for the USPTO and Amazon (such as the "GENERIC" trademark snafu that took down hundreds of sellers last year).

Amazon made mess out of Brands. We have a few hundred item we sold on Amazon for years that are no longer sellable because someone changed the brand and now Amazon wants documents we buy items from this so called brand that has nothing to do with the actual product. Talking to Amazon on the issues like this is like talking to a huge pile of steaming dog SHturdsIT.

?? Did Amazon really ask for a "Letter of Authorization" knowing that you are the brand owner? Maybe you better copy and paste their message here.
Btw, if you have a website "your brand.com", your brand will be accepted for sale, with or without trademark or brand registry. BUT - even the creation of a website needs to be done properly and following national laws by mentioning in your "About" section your business name, address and phone. Anything else is intransparent and (at least in Europe) illegal.

We are having the same issue trying to list any of our products as a new Amazon seller. We own the brand and manufacture our products ourselves but when I am trying to submit our products to our catalog I am getting the error 5461. I even submitted a letter explaining we are the brand, but we were told that we are not recognized.
Additionally, products we submitted with no error codes are not showing up in our inventory at all.
Has anyone had any success with these issues? Any tips for someone trying to start their store? Seller Support seems to be useless at this point.

HI I am a new seller and have been dealing with the same issue for a month now. I bought UPC for my product, and also have a pending trademark application. I was only applying for brand approval so i could list my product under my brand. I had a customized box too. none of these could persuade Amazon that it is good enough. I had to list my first product under generic. yeah, we all know what's gonna happen later; once i start to sell; hijackers will tack the listings....
It feels like communicating with amzon is always one-way; they send you an automated email and you can never get a real person to speak to.
