Recieved Intellectual Property Violation Complaint
Hello, I recieved an Intellectual Property Violoation complaint listing a used book published by the American Psychology Association. The compaint stated I infringed the copyright - all I was doing was selling a used book b]published by APA. Amazon removed the book from the listing (there are many other sellers).
I am assuming APA just doesn't want others selling the books used or not , without buying it from them first, which I get and am going to avoid selling any books by them (and removing any I might have on hand). I also sent a note to the contact person explaining the situation and asking if they could send a retraction notice to Amazon.
My question is how do I handle this with the least affect to my account - here is the appeal page
Please choose an option for how you want to proceed.
1) I understand the policy and have evidence or documentation to submit for review to confirm my compliance with the policy.
2) I understand the policy and acknowledge the violation.
Select this option if you do not wish to reactivate your listing.
Do I select option 10 and see if they send a retraction letter and send that to Amazon, or 2) do I select 2 ?with the least af

Option 3: You can also just ignore it without answering the questions and it'll disappear after 180 days from your account heath. However, selling the book will still be blocked for you.

Hi @Attridge_Books_a_055,
Thank you for the post and attaching the information you are seeing regarding the copyright violation you have on your account. Based off your post, you are facing two options when addressing the violation.
If you are planning on either disputing the violation or submitting an appeal to get the listing reinstated, this is the option you would want to choose. It is through this option where you can submit either a DMCA document via a guided workflow or documents such as invoices or a letter of authorization that show you are authorized to sell the book. In the US marketplace, the DMCA option is typically what is required when choosing this option. You can find more information regarding DMCA document submission here.
This option would our "Forgiveness" path. If you are no longer intending to sell the item, you may potentially remove the violation from your account by choosing this option. It should be noted this path does NOT reinstate the listing, but rather merely removes the violation from the dashboard (if successful).
In their post, @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7 states you have the option to simply allow the violation to roll off your dashboard on its own. This is correct information that will take place 180 days from the date of the violation, so long as your account remains active in the intervening time.
Any negative impact to your score will have already taken place. Listing violations carry high, medium, low, or no impacts to your Account Health Rating score (AHR). The amount of points deducted from your score varies depending on the severity of the impact, but the deduction is immediately applied when the violation first hits your dashboard. This deduction only occurs one time for each violation you incur, so we are in a "damage has already been done" scenario regarding your AHR score. By accepting the violation (the forgiveness path), your AHR will not be negatively impacted. In fact, if you are able to successfully remove the violation (regardless if the removal was the result of either an appeal, through the forgiveness path, or simply rolling off after 180 days), the points deducted from your AHR score will be reinstated within 24 hours of the violation's removal from your Account Health Dashboard.
I hope this helps with your concerns. If you need clarification or have further questions, please feel free to reach out here in the thread, and we will assist you as best we can.
Regards,
Troy
