Whats conidered a good CTR?

So I'm wondering what's considered a good CTR and what would be considered exceptional and then bad CTR. And then what CTR would get like unicorn status or be considered abnormally high

Hi @Seller_NRcsAplCDjo30,

From what I’ve seen, the average CTR sits around 0.5 percent.

With that in mind, it could be useful to talk about why Amazon might favor ads with higher CTR:

  • One reason is that a higher CTR generally signals better ad relevance. The ad is closely matching what shoppers are searching for. In other words, higher CTR could mean a better customer experience.
  • There’s also a business angle: Amazon only earns ad revenue when an ad is clicked, so giving more visibility to ads with higher CTR can increase their expected ad revenue.

What factors actually drive your CTR?

  1. Relevance: Is your product really what the shopper wants? The better the match, the higher the click rate.
  2. Placement: Ads shown at the top of the search results typically see much higher CTR. Sometimes a low CTR is simply because your bids are too low, leading to less top-of-search presence and, as a result, a lower CTR.
  3. Beyond that, everything visible in the search results plays a role. Your main product image, title, price, Prime status, and so on.

One word of caution from my perspective:

If you over-prioritize raising CTR, it can be tempting to just "buy" it with higher bids. While higher bids will increase your top-of-search share and lift your CTR, they’ll also drive up your ACoS.

Personally, I focus most on catching it when CTR drops below average. If that happens, I dig into placement data and review the search query report to see if there’s a bid management or targeting issue.

Curious to hear what you (and others) think!

Best,

Michael
