FBA Shipment Status "Closed," but Units Continue To Go Missing

I’ve noticed an issue where FBA shipments are initially marked as "Closed" and show as fully received. However, upon rechecking after some time, 1-2 units—or sometimes even more—suddenly appear to be missing from the inventory/shipment. The shipment was originally recorded as complete, why would anything go missing after the shipment status was finalized? Has anyone else experienced this? I’d appreciate insights on why this happens or do we all already know the answer?

Been happening for a while now. They keep changing the status of specific items after the status is closed. I just had a shipment where I filed a case no response from them for two weeks then they tell me they are missing an invoice on a FNSKU which did not have a discrepancy when I filed the case.

Some warehouses use "negative receiving" to indicate a shipment to another warehouse. It should get added back in when it arrives there. (you are not alone in being confused and disliking this!) You'll need to pull reports to track exact counts and unit movement inside Amazon fulfillment centers. It's a total nightmare to track on a unit by unit level each day/week so I check once a month - and file a request for reimbursement at that time if the "missing" item stays missing. There are services that will do this analysis for you, if you provide them with the needed reports. You can see the movement of units in the Inventory Ledger report among others. https://sellercentral.amazon.com/reportcentral/LEDGER_REPORT/0
