USPS 12+ Days to Deliver

Out of the last 100 orders, about a dozen have taken USPS 12+ days and up to 20 days to deliver. That means a dozen buyers requesting refunds even though the package arrives a week later.

We always explain that we arent the USPS and therefore cant control how long it takes, but we're losing money and getting bad reviews B/C of the post office slow delivery.

Any insight?

We many that are over 30 days to deliver. Its out of control and something has to be done about this.

We are getting bad reviews and losing money when this entire issue is from a 3rd party that no one has control over!

USPS Has been a total hot mess the last few months! One of the worst examples was when I had a small first class package take 13 days to go 108 miles within the same state. USPS didn't scan it after it left until arrival scan... So I assumed it was long gone a few days before it arrived!

Everything is late. I believe Dejoy has run USPS right off the tracks....intentionally, after what went down during his last visit to congress. I'm rural and everything I send or receive through USPS just sits for days at many different locations. I'm either out of business soon or I will need to start using UPS or fedex by driving all of my orders to town for a drop once a week. This will almost double the cost of my items and slow shipping even more.

We have had the problem where they don't scan anything for 5 days! Even with a scan sheet. Then we lose our AZ Claims because Amazon doesn't think we shipped it ontime

Same here. We have SSA & AHT enabled and use Amazon Buy Shipping for this exact reason.

The past couple weeks, there's a scan of 'weather delay' even right after they're dropped off and there is no weather delay.

Our BIGGEST problem is getting acceptance scans on time. If we use a SCAN form, they're not formally scanned as accepted for a day or two later so we have to have our local post office scan them individually so we're protected. They hate that.

We had our local sales rep set us up with a meeting with regional management and they literally said they don't have a clue about anything and it is what it is. For our non-Amazon orders, we're filing claims daily once they hit that 15-day mark and USPS is paying them. For our Amazon orders, we're telling customers to file claims and of course customers aren't happy with that, but they are eventually getting their packages.

The only insights I can provide is that some distribution facilities are having major problems. Some are getting backed up and packages are not getting out on time and then when more show up they cannot get caught up. During the summer I had a package that was going from my city to someone in my city. Package was delayed for weeks. Fortunately, I had an extra and just delivered it directly to the customer. I believe USPS shipped their backlog items to a distribution center out of state so that the items could get sorted and back on track. When it came back to my city it went out the next day. I know our local distribution center is set for a $2 million plus upgrade and that may be happening throughout the U.S. I bet USPS business has been changing too. First class mail has had to go down over the years compared to increased packages due to internet sales. They simply may be behind on making those changes.

My favorite package this year had the following tracking number 9434611206239727115049. Now keep in mind, this item was going to Ohio. It traveled through six states and one of them twice before it finally arrived in Ohio 19 days after it started. I had one heading to Tennessee that went through Arizona first from Texas. I had one last week that was going from the city in live in to someone in the city I live in that for some reason went through Tennessee. That should have taken a business day or two to be delivered and took over a week. Fortunately, there are many packages that are getting delivered on time but when they take that first wrong turn, it seems to take a miracle to get back on track.

We've seen some similar issues with the USPS beginning in January where customers are asking us where their parcels are. One customer waited almost three weeks and tracking indicated that it was a "weather delay." Of course, the customers are blaming us for whatever issue is going on with them, in one case asking us to ship them a second replacement which we don't do since the fault lies with the carrier, not us.

Not sure what the answer is at this point other than to continue doing what we are doing and laying the blame at the USPS doorstep. We can switch to UPS or FedEx, but oftentimes their rates are higher, so that obviously doesn't help our bottom line.

best way to inform the customer that you are using the standard ship option & select the delivery dates as provided by Amazon under the order details .. give an opportunity to the customer that if they are looking to cancel the order right away give that option for cancellation .. I have setup 12 hours of cancelation.. use the buyer seller portal .. try to track the order on behalf of the user & try to built the conversation with the customer that you values their order .. rest their are few customer for which we have to ready for refund their is no backup option .. UPS & Fedex are the most expensive shipping options, that will definitely hit the pricing.. Every 100 order approx 20 customers are always run for refunds .. so set your pricing competitively so that you can recovery all the lost.

Same for us. Has anyone here been able to get USPS claims granted? Even though we buy shipping labels through Amazon as "claims protected" and "OTDR protected," every time I reach out to Amazon they say to take it up with the carrier. Zero % of orders with extremely late deliveries have qualified for SAFE-T claims, and I cannot understand how or why.
