"Has anyone encountered a situation where Amazon's customer service replied with 'we couldn't find a selling account that was linked to this email address' despite the seller account email address never being changed, and both the seller's login email and account information in the backend showing the same email address? What's even more perplexing is that I didn't open the case through email, but rather through Amazon's seller support center. How could this issue of not finding a linked selling account with the email address occur?"

Note that your seller and buyer account are linked. Did you change your e-mail on your buyer account or close your buyer account?

Ive' seen this before when the Buyer side of the account was deleted.
This could be done by either you or by Amazon for violations of the Buyer account TOS.

Maybe it's a scam email.
Make sure the email came from Amazon.
And, open a case in seller center. Discuss the case with Amazon in seller center.
