USPS returned to sender but buyer message saying they received.

A customer purchased $600 worth of product from me, I purchased signature confirmation tracking due to the Amazon recommendation for this customer. The tracking shows the package has been returned to sender because of incorrect address but the customer messaged me on my personal website saying they received the product and had questions about set up.

Has anyone experienced a situation like this? I wrote a message to the customer in Amazon with a copy of their message to me saying they received the product and a copy of the tracking showing it was returned to sender. I'm planning to record opening the package sent back to me just in case the product was in fact received and the items were missing from the return. Knowing how Amazon works, I'm worried I'm going to have to just accept the loss if the items are in fact missing from the return.
