Important: All foods listed on the Amazon Marketplace must comply with the manufacturing standards, standards, labeling and packaging standards required by the Food Sanitation Law and other related laws, regulations, administrative interpretations, and guidelines.

What is baby food?

Baby food is any soft, pureed, or easy to digest consumable food that is made specifically for human babies between the age of four months and two years old. This food comes in many varieties and flavors. Baby food is sold in a variety of toddler-friendly packaging such as plastic tubs, glass jars, or pouches.

Requirements for listing baby food

Baby food is regulated by the Food Sanitation Law of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. The manufacturing process of baby foods must carry out process control based on the HACCP and ensure the safety of the products.

Baby food sold in Japan must be manufactured at a manufacturing plant that has obtained food safety certification such as HACCP. To do that, the following conditions must be met.

  • Manufacturing factory has obtained food safety certification such as HACCP
  • The required label is displayed.

Note: The following are food safety certification and compliance standards.
  • HACCP
  • ISO22000
  • FSSC22000
  • JFS-B
  • JFS-C
  • SQF level 2
  • BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Version 8
  • IFS Food Standard
  • PrimusGFS Standard
Note: ISO9001 and ISO14001 are not certified standards for food safety. Please confirm that the manufacturing plant has obtained the above food safety certification.

Amazon limits the listing of baby food that does not meet the criteria. From the viewpoint of ensuring the safety of babies, baby foods manufactured at factories that have not obtained food safety certification such as HACCP will be suppressed. Please understand this. Frequently asked questions about baby food (infants from 4 months to 2 years old)

What should I do if the product is not manufactured in-house?

Please check with your supplier to see if the baby food manufacturing plant has obtained HACCP or other food safety certifications. If the same product has already been checked by another company, you do not need to check again.

The listing has suppressed, but this product is not baby food.

Sorry. Please reply to the email to that effect. Please also explain why it does not apply to baby food.

I received a notification about the suspension of listing, and only the ASINXXXXXX was mentioned in the notification. Is it necessary to suspend the listing of other products as well?

It is basically unnecessary. If you list multiple products, not all products may be subject to suspension. However, if you have listed very similar items, but only some of them are listed in the email, please kindly reply with the content containing that information.

What is the Definition of Baby Food? Is this product applicable to baby food?

Baby food is defined as "food that is soft and easy to eat, other than breast milk and infant formula, specially made for infants from 4 months to 2 years of age."
