Settings for vacations, holidays, and other absences

To set extended vacations for Golden Week, year-end/New Year's, etc., you can use one of the two methods below. Going into an extended vacation without configuring the proper settings will result in a higher Late Shipment Rate and may significantly impact the seller's performance. Always configure the settings according to your circumstances before taking an extended vacation.

  • Set products not to be displayed on the Amazon website to not accept orders during vacation
  • Accept orders as usual during vacation and shipping orders/responding to buyers in order of receipt after vacation
    1. Adjusting Lead Time to Ship per item on Manage Inventory
    2. Adjusting Lead Time to Ship All at Once by Uploading the File (For Pro Merchants)
    3. Reverting the Handling Time to the Original

Set products not to be displayed on the Amazon website to not accept orders during vacation

If you cannot ship orders due to extended vacations or other circumstances, you must change your listing status in Seller Central to Inactive. While your status is inactive, your listed products will temporarily not be displayed on the Amazon.co.jp website, and you will not receive orders. Take the steps below to change your listing status.

  1. Click Settings > Seller Account Information in Seller Central.
  2. Click the Edit button next to the listing status.
  3. Select Inactive and click the Save button.
Note:
  • If you are using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and set your listing status to Inactive, Seller Fulfilled products (products for which FBA is not used) will no longer be displayed on the Amazon.co.jp website. Products listed using FBA will not be changed to Inactive status because Amazon will handle order acceptance, shipping and customer service.
  • Note that the status of pending orders may be changed to unshipped orders while your listings are Inactive.
  • When you return from vacation, make sure you take the steps above to change your listing status to Active (selling on Amazon.co.jp). This way your listing information will be reflected on the Amazon.co.jp website. Click here for more information on listing status.

Accept orders as usual during vacation and shipping orders/responding to buyers in order of receipt after vacation

If you are going to continue accepting product orders during an extended vacation, you must set the number of days it will take to ship individual products during the vacation and adjust the Lead Time to Ship in order to prevent your Late Shipment Rate from increasing. For Lead Time to Ship displayed on the page, see here.

1. Adjusting Lead Time to Ship per item on Manage Inventory

If you have a small number of listed products and are able to change all product information manually, we recommend you to follow this step.

  1. Click Inventory > Manage Inventory .
  2. Move the cursor over Change for the product in question and click Edit Details.
  3. In the Listing Information tab, specify the number of days of vacation in the number of days from order to shipment. (Note: This number cannot exceed 30 days. If the order cannot be shipped within 30 days, it will be canceled automatically by the system.)

  4. Click the Save & Finish button.
Note:
  • Lead Time to Ship cannot be set for products using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).
  • If you select Scheduled Delivery, set it in accordance with this help page.
  • If you select Same-day Delivery or Next-Day Delivery, set it in accordance with this help page.

2. Adjusting Lead Time to Ship All at Once by Uploading the File (For Pro Merchants)

We recommend doing this when you have a large number of listed products and wish to change the settings for all of these at once.

  1. Download the Product Report in advance in order to obtain the information required when uploading the file. Download using the steps below.
    1. Click Inventory > Inventory Report .
    2. Select Listed Product Report from the pull-down menu for selecting report type and click the Request Report button.
    3. When "ready" is displayed in the report status, click the download button to download the report to your computer and save it in text format.
    4. Open the file and copy all content. Start Excel and copy and paste the copied content. For details of each item, see here.
    5. Copy the following items required for the upload: Merchant SKU, Quantity, and Inventory Quantity. Paste those into Price and Quantity File.
Note: The product using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) does not require Lead Time to Ship setting. It should not be entered in Price and Quantity File.
  2. Use the Price and Quantity File to make batch changes to Lead Time to Ship. Enter values for SKU, Price, Currency, Quantity and Handling Time.
  3. Once you have entered the information, upload the file.
Note:
  • Specify Price & Quantity File as the type of file to be uploaded.
  • Once you have uploaded a Price and Quantity File, if you update the product information leaving Handling Time empty in the Listing File, the Lead Time to Ship will be deleted. When updating information with the Listing File, set the Handling Time again.
  • Make sure to save the uploaded file since Handling Time values cannot be obtained all at once after the setting is completed.
Note: Make sure to revert the setting to the original one after the end of vacation if you set the lead time (number of working days to take until shipping) in b. See Reverting the Handling Time to the Original.

Now the setting for vacations, holidays, and other absences is completed.

See the following help page for additional setting to avoid misunderstanding by the buyer:
